Christmas 2009

Wow! What more can we say. This Christmas was amazing. Not only did Morgan LOVE the season, talking about Santa, seeing Santa (without freaking completely out) and actually opening presents all on his own, he really really enjoyed it. Jon and I however, were exhausted!! BUT very blessed to be able to provide for our family, BE with our family and enjoy each others company.
Aside from Christmas, all the food and WAY too many gifts, Morgan is now on week THREE of being Potty Trained. He is doing so well! Only a couple of accident, and soon we will attempt going to bed with undies! Where did my little baby go?? I've traded it in for a big boy! He's so sweet, spoiled, has total attitude, but is kind and loves playing with kids. I love love LOVE the school we have him. They are really teaching him so much and I would pay double to know he keeps getting the treatment, teaching and knowledge any kid deserves from a school! (the home away from home)!!
Anyways, here are some photos from Christmas for you to enjoy :)

The flu :(

Poor little Morgan is sick with the Flu. He's been sick all weekend and really bad Sunday. We just figured he was getting a bad case of his Asthma but with the fever...that just didn't make sense. So off to the dr.s we went today, only for him to get poked and prodded again. I felt so bad. First the dr. wanted to check for tonsillitis so with the help of the lollipop stick to push down his throat, two long q-tips went down his throat. Ouch...Then for the flu check, yeah that was fun! Stupid nurse takes a different q-tip puts it up one nose to swab than WAM! she shoves it in the other side, so far I didn't think baby's noses went. I could have sworn she swabbed his brain, and poor Morgan was screaming how bad it hurt him. These are the reasons, my friends, I WILL NOT EVER put unnecessary tourturous medical crap with my son or any other kid I may have. I just won't do it. It's so unnecessary and the people that do it, somehow manage to not know what the heck they are doing. I mean....don't these people work with kids ONLY day in and day out??? What gives?
Anyways, $150 (WITH insurance my friends) later and THREE drugs, we're home. He hasn't really ate all day, but I just got him to eat some crackers. The coughing has come down a bit, which is nice, but we have a LONG night ahead of us tonight. Ahh the joys of having little humans around to care for. I just think back to all the times my mom used to get up to cuddle me, rock me or just shove medicine down my throat to shut up. Whatever the case...it was always MOMMY I cried out to, and it still is. I only hope my baby boy will realize that when he grows up.
By no means do I want him to be mommas-boy, but appreciation, value, loyalty and making sure that I'm doing OK is all I ask. Some may think that is too much, but that's where I came from...and my boy better have two braincells in his brain to never put anyone over his own flesh and blood, the one that birthed him and sacrificed for a better life.
Ok, off my soapbox.
Love to all

Halloween 2009

OMGish, this year was so much fun. Not only did I spend an amazing time at a friends house the day prior, but for Halloween we all went out as a family and celebrated! It wasn't what I envisioned, but that's what was so great about it! Nothing was perfect, costume didn't stay on all night, no running up to any doors screaming trick or treat, no consuming ALL the candy. haha
BUT, by going to the church his school is attached to for their Truck or Treat event, Morgan did try his best to come out of his comfort zone and go up to people for candy, we did try taking off his shoes (on about three different occasions) to go on inside a bouncy tarp. . He was obsessed with rock climbing, which unfortunately he couldn't get on...maybe next year buddy! After a while, daddy even tried on Morgan's outfit on for size!! This would be Thomas all grown up. heheh
After that, we went over to Kandi's house, which Halloween there was being shared with her husbands 30th birthday. As soon as the music was on, he was on the dance floor aka living room. He was the only boy up there shaking his money maker and having a blast at it too. He loves to dance so much. Can't wait till he gets older, I see dance lessons in his future.
I'll try to be better at posting here more often. Life happens so fast, that I get selfish and take in all the moments for myself. I'll make sure to keep the camera loaded or better yet, figure out how to do all this from my phone!! xoxoo

Morgans 1st School Photos!

I've been so excited to get these pictures and post them on here! Morgans FIRST school photos! Of course, like any mother (i hope), I got both poses that the photographer sent my way. I'm sure if they would have sent 10 poses I would have found a way to get a package of each kind!

I have to be honest and say that I was nervous at first. We had tried getting pictures from the daycare center he was at, and even with two full days of trying - no pictures :(

At this school,  New Hope Christian Academy, there was only ONE day to take photos...all or nothing! So I asked, and was told that Morgan took pictures!! Yeah!! There was some hesitation (of course), but after Morgan got to see all the other kids get their pictures taken, he figured it out. And...this is what we got!

One full body shot where he sitting on the prop laughing hysterically. I swear I could hear him every time I look at this shot. I don't think he's breathing and I'm sure there was a 'snort' somewhere! heheh

The second shot is a face shot! Just look at it...HANDSOME!

I also got the 'class' photo, which had a twist. The school is still very small and slowly growing, so the principle thought instead of doing the traditional class photo, she gathered up all the students and teachers and took what she calls 'The Founding Fathers/Mothers' of New Hope! Cute yeah...

I can not keep saying just how well Morgan does in this school. All his 'so-called' asthma and allergies are GONE. hmmm...must have been that overcrowded school that must have been oh-not-so-clean. Whatever...I'm just glad he's better an happy and learning and talking and doing everything a healthy little baby boy should be doing.

Morgan Update

I have so much to share and have been doing a horrible job at staying connected.
Morgan is a future Picasso. His painting here shows his masterful skill with colors and paint brushes. Mommy feels his painting was the best out of all the others, but found that all the other kids were extremely talented!

All the way up to Pre-K, kids were drawing a vase with sunflowers and I couldn't believe how well they all were. All the paintings were up for a small donation fee back to the school. I would gladly pay them whatever they want as we are so amazed with how much Morgan has developed with them. Most of his days (he is 2.5!) He comes running up to the door. I no longer have to carry him and he doesn't grab on to my leg for dear-life! He's so happy with saying 'By momma' and blowing me a kiss! My baby boy is growing so fast. I hope these days last forever!!!
He also made another little project for me. It's a little poem with his hand print in front. It made me cry. There are so many times I take for granted how little he really is, I expect him to fully understand whatever I say, and I have to take a step back and say 'Whoa...he's just a baby'.
Here's what the poem reads in case it isn't clear from the picture:

Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls

But every day I'm growing --
I'll be grown some day
And all those tiny handprints
Will surely fade away

So here's a little handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small

Isn't that sweet. I get all mushy with this kinda stuff. I can't help it. It's these little projects at school, that although I know weren't 'his' thoughts, I know the teachers are actually taking the time to teach him something and are having activities with him. (and YES, it's on the refrigerator!)

Other than that things are good in the Cook household. My sister-in-law will be making me a new auntie with baby#2, I will NOT be having baby#2, and that's a good thing!! lol
Toodles~

Easter Egg Addition

Tio Tommy & Tia Brittany got Morgan an easter basket! That was so sweet and very thoughtful of them.

Morgan loved it! Here are a couple of shots with him opening up some of the lolly-pops and deciding how and where to take a bit of the bunny (which by the way...mommy ate half)! Geezzz.

Easter Egg?

Although mommy & daddy failed to take Morgan to church and do a 'proper' easter egg hunt, Morgan got one on us!!

As we were over some friends house, he managed to grab a basket, take it outside to the patio, and sit in it. Not making a peep! Our friend was going outside and found him just hanging there. Morgan was kind enough to hang out and let me take pictures of him. What a HAM!
This cigar is NOT lit nor was it at the time of putting it in his mouth, but it was funny none the less. We're so bad.

Other than that, Morgan really stuffed his face today. Ate like crazy for breakfast as well as dinner. Lunch was missed due to nap time :( but snacks followed as soon as he woke up!
Enjoy!

Round #2 of New Photos Developed!

More photos of our little baby boy. 2 1/2 already and growing so so fast!

More Photos Developed

I went at it again! I couldn't help myself. That empty roll of film, sitting there, waiting for someone to develop. It has to be ME. I grabbed the roll again and developed the film *sigh*. Here's the new set of photos.
These photos are from the day they released, what
looks like, a million lady bugs outside. Morgan really liked it...but what boy doesn't like to play with bugs. I love ladybugs, don't get me wrong, but in this magnitude of them, it made my skin crawl. heheheh

There are a few photos here from Daddy and Me day. Jon wasn't able to come, and there was no other 'guys' available to come and hang out with him, unfortunately, but that was OK for Morgan. More stuff for him to play with by himself. If you know Morgan, you know he needs to warm up to people. The other daddy's tried to play with him, but he refused the love. Spoiled Brat!

These next few pictures are just precious. When the kiddos
go outside, they have to hold hands! isn't that the cutest!! They love helping each other and are starting to play with each other too.

Morgan is doing so well in this school. He really enjoys being there and hates to leave. Seriously, he gets excited we are there, but would rather stay than leave!
He's eating much better, AND according to the 2nd opinion Asthma Specialist, doesn't have ANY allergies at all. NONE. No Wheat, No outdoor...NOTHING!? I've been 'testing' the waters and giving him some food items. I've tried having him eat little bits of bread and some cereals, and nothings happened. No breakout, wheezing or anything! We've also cut down on his medications. We only do a breathing treatment in the morning and at bed time to help coat his lungs, but nothing else. We are so lucky and I thank the Lord for having my baby boy so healthy. In times like this, it really helps!! He's so much happier! Talking a lot and being 100% boy!

Enjoy!

Fun at the Dr.'s

Morgan is growing up so fast. He's always been fun, a pain in the butt, but fun. Each day brings a new expression on his face, a new sound or new word. I'm so blessed to have him for my baby.
I took him to to go see an Asthma Specialist to check on his allergies..and asthma (duh). During that time we had lots of fun. There was a lot of little face and lung models he liked to explorer, but the favorite part was helping mommy tone those flabby thighs!

He got to go up and down and be SuperMan, and mommy got to feel the burn from the lack of exercise!

Weekend Review

Over the weekend we went to this cafe called the Beach (7750 S. Jones), small and cute. Morgan has found a new love for this place, and it comes in the form of scarfing down those individual sized jelly's and drinking the half & half milks. I can't stop him. It's the only thing that keeps him quiet and content until the food comes out. We haven't really found anything he really likes (or can actually have, due to his allergies) but I'm sure we will get there. This weekend he ate the bacon slices and a ton of french fries!
Today we went to Abuelo and Abuela's house. Morgan is inseparable with his grandfather. Sticks to him like glue. Not sure what the connection is there...but I'm glad it's there. It's nice for him to hang out with Abuelo so mommy and me can have our alone time, gossip, and mainly do my secretarial duties for her! I
love my mommy very very much!! She is the best person with the biggest heart and I only wish to one day be 100% like her. I've got the stubborn part down, I just need to be cleaner and more boisterous!! xoxoxo

Nosey Picture Developer Mommy

So Morgan's school New Hope Christian Academy School
is super brand new, just opened in January09 and has small classes Literally the ratio is 4 students PER teacher! That's freakin' amazing and a rarity! Yes, it's a Christian School and YES they teach him about God. My personal view is that believing in a higher power and knowing how to love each other is important, and if by believing in God makes it happen, than that's what we want for our son.Enough about that...the reason for this post is that that school asks you to bring in disposable cameras and a 3-ring binder so the teachers can take pictures of the little munchkins and build a personalized journal of your very own monkey, mine being Morgan! hahahI volunteered to fork over the $18 and get the film developed. I'm nosey, and needed to see the photos NOW instead of getting stuck in a box later, which I'm sure the teacher, Ms. Day, would be very creative in decorating and noting each event....but still...this is one quality that I acquired from my mother that I am DAMN proud of. CONTROLLING! Now if I can get the super cleanliness from her...Jon would love me more!Well, here are some photos of various days. The teachers took many pictures of all the children, playing outside, inside, eating, etc. He's been at this school for a three weeks now, and is so stress-FREE. no more bitting the shit out of the pacifiers, no more starving periods, and no more super crying and being snotty. His allergies and asthma are more under control now than ever before! I thank God and the powers to be that lead me to this school. They better not let me down, or there will be hell to pay! lol

Sushi

Last night we had sushi at our favorite place in the whole wide world, well, at least for Jon it is. Morgan and I like it. Don't get me wrong. It's really really good, nice and fresh fish, and a big open space. Morgan, as always, is Morgan and will run around freerange like a loose chicken, and no one ever complains or gives us dirty looks. So families...YOU'RE SAFE TO EAT HERE!

This is also the only place Morgan will really sit down and grub his little face. He enjoys a bowl of rice, baby taco (baby octopus) <~~there's something wrong with a baby eating baby, but that's another story, and finishing off with edamame. He attacks it full force with no complaints. Asks for more and everything! We Love It Here!! Here's a picture, in action, to show his love for Asian Cuisine. Yes, folks...he is truly MY son! heheh

1st Day of School - New Hope Christian Academy

Oh Boy!
Today was Morgan's first day at New Hope Christian Academy! I was nervous and anxious on how he would do. There are no cameras at the school and I won't be able to check in on him throughout the day. NOT something, this super clingy mom is used too!
Today was a super windy day, he grabbed hold of his blankie and kept saying 'it's cold'! heheh
We get inside and am greated by Ms. Dake, school principle and the teacher Ms. Day, who is super cute, nice, calm, and friendly!

It was so nice and warm inside. Morgan did do his monkey-clingy thing to me, but warmed up rather quickly. There were new toys, books and other things to play with. We walked over to a dry erase board that had those magnetic letters stuck to them. Morgan really liked those and, although shy, started to play with the letters.

I started to stand up, when he grabbed me and started mumbling...words that were picked up in between were 'Daddy, Car, Outside, Home'! I let him know that daddy would pick him up soon and that he was going to have LOTS of fun here with Ms. Day.

He then focused in on a book of trucks. We thumbed through it, and found lots of different styles of trucks and construction vehicles inside. One was a car shipper truck, just like Mac from the movie CARS (which we have watched a MILLION times). We walked the book over to Ms. Day and she started talking to him about the movie and he got all happy :)

I told him I was going to go to work and daddy would be back to pick him up...I got no response as he was too into telling the teacher about all the cars inside the truck!

Ms. Dake just called to let me know that Morgan is doing great. A classmate walked in, saw Morgan, and said 'Hi Friend'! Morgan smiled and they started playing together!! The teacher was taking pictures to give us when we pick him up....so photos will be added tonight :)

About Us

My photo
Las Vegas, NV, United States
We are a family of three no more, no less! Jon and I have know each other for 18 years now. Started with being really good friends and talking on the phone (well, me crying about the loser boyfriends I had), but Jon was always there. Providing me with the support and love I needed, weather I wanted it or not, was not the issue. We finally made our connection in 2004, courted for about three months, because really, there was only a very few things we DIDN'T know about each other. A year later, we were blessed to become pregnant and through the stress of the high-risk pregancy, we had a gorgeous baby boy. His name was already predetermined! 'Morgan' is Jon's moms maiden name, there is a running joke with the 'Morgans' due to their attitude. Alejandro was from my uncle's name 'Alejo' I've always liked that name and we wanted to have our son represent both sides of his heritage. PLUS my parents couldn't say Morgan for the longest, so Alejandro is what he is called by mommy's family, and Morgan is used for daddy's family. We wonder why our son is so confused most of the time, right?? We are a happy family! Nothing could be wanted more
